Script (batch file) to install Hyper V Manager etc on Windows 11 HOME EDITION

I am currently running the batch file in the small script which is self-evident on this webpage:

    https://www.makeuseof.com/install-hy...ual%20hardware.

I was wondering if anyone has experience of using Hyper V on Windows 11 Home as I am thinking of trying Fedora on it.

This morning, I finally upgraded to 32GB Ram from 16GB G-Skill (mix of FlareX and Ares now, works fine, if CL-16 ish timing according to the BIOS SPD Reader, actually 1T 32GB on a 3600x @ 3.85GHz+ by 6 by 2 cores!)
XMP Profile 1 with Flare-X 3200 CL14 and the equivalent Ares that you could find on the bay for 55 squid for 16gb.

Looks like this doesn't work trying to start a Fedora 38 Install on Windows HOME:

Virtual Machine could not be started because the Hypervisor is not running

This was after a system restart as per page above. Looks like I need a Pro license for Windows 7?

I haven't used Home edition for so long I'm unaware of its full restrictions these days. You would certainly have no problems using Fedora with VirtualBox. But I am not sure if there are restrictions with Home edition.
Think I paid £15 to upgrade my Home to a Pro via Micrsoft. I couldn't grumble at that and it made life so much easier on my laptop and no reinstall of Windows necessary.

Yes believe it was only the Pro version that came with virtualisation

Re: Script (batch file) to install Hyper V Manager etc on Windows 11

Interestingly, a few days ago I turned off the Hypervisor it seems via a BCDEDIT command. I have turned it back on and I have a Hyper-V Boot on Windows 11 Home, no time to play with it yet, it didn't seem to boot off my Fedora 38 media ISO but it was trying for IPv4 Net Boot it seems.
EDIT: Fedora 38 install works on Windows 11 Home using the batch script in the first post.

Though a default Windows 11 Home Owner shouldn't need it, Here is the command I got to Avoid the Error Above:

To begin with, launch Command Prompt as an administrator.
Then execute the below command to restart Hyper-V on boots

    bcdedit /set hypervisorlaunchtype auto

Later Edit: I have Fedora 38 running on Hyper-V on Windows 11 Home using the option of disable the secure boot portion of the Windows 11 VM VM Default Settings. Good engineering, I am also using VirtualBox and I have to say the JPEG rendering is better perhaps than a modern Chromium based browser but that comment is only included because I recently fired up 2001 Paint Shop Pro 7.04 Patched.

For some reason my image was replaced (but backed up with free to me storage!) with a rude sounding word but honestly Windows 10 or 11 H O M E should be able to run Hyper-V based on running the script in the first post in this thread, after pasting it into a batch file, and it only takes less than perhaps 5 mins. It's amazing.

Nice that it can be done and you got it sorted.

I'd opt the Pro route but I'm sure there will be enough that wouldn't want to and makes an interesting project.
I have seen people making Group Policy Editor and other things work on Home in the past.
