Thread: Quick Linux question from a newbie...

    ive just started to use linux....and have learnt sooooooo much just by this one guide. i dont know how far through it i am but i HIGHLY recommend it to any beginner to linux.

    start at the beginning at work your way through, seriously if you have a lot of time i recommend it. i printed it out for osme bed time reading.

    The last Linux distro I used was CentOS - its essentially RHEL with the Redhat bits removed.
    I was impressed by how easy it was to install and configure.

    dont forget the scope of the OP. there isn't such a thing as a completly foolproof/malware proof system. To belive so is self delusion. Keep what ever OS you used well patched and only download from trusted sources.

    Wow, bookmarked! Thanks a lot guys, you've all been great help. I feel quite excited about going Linux tbh. All the excessive spyware and crapware on Windows is just driving me nuts. Getting a bit old but I'll use Windows purely for gaming only.
