I believe that is what you're looking for. Find the program you're looking for, download, install, enjoy .

fun things to check out are complete OS's on the stick. If you don't belive in the OS on PCs in labs then just boot ur own.

Password wise, remeber you can use NTFS encryption if your on a domain.

I've used npop on a pen drive to check emails, but I don't think I'd bother with again now I can take thunderbird everywhere I go.

Some good notes on this page

Knew I had the link somewhere:
    http://www.portablefreeware.com/

Loads and loads of software that can be dumped on a pen drive and work fine. In case you can't tell from the link, it's all free

if you have the cash you could get one of these http://www.projectblackdog.com/site/index.html

not only is it a flash drive, it also has a PPC processor inbuilt, its like a computer on a stick!

You best bet if you have a small drive, is to use a Live Linux on a bootable CD and use the USB as a home directory and for storage etc.

Appart from Firefox and Thunderbird (personally i would not bother with thunderbird on a USB drive, just get a plugin for firefox for your mail like Gmail notifier) Another good app is Audiograbber, one of the best free MP3 rippers.
