i found a way 2 do it but i have 2 use an external program that can edit each picture one by one and resize it that way but its too time consuming, im sure their is a way to auto size the still images so that it can fit on a screen of 720x540

Assuming you're making a video in DV resolution (720x576 for PAL / 720x480 for NTSC)...

The best way is to resize the still picture before importing to Premiere. There are some free programs which will do batches in one go (I think Irfanview does this?)

But the other problem with DV is that the pixels aren't square, so even if you resize, the aspect ratio of the pictures will be wrong.

You can fix this by resizing the picture to 768x576 (keeping aspect ratio the same), and then resizing to 720x576 (not keeping aspect ratio the same). Complicated, but it will give the correct results.

Of course, if you're not using DV (or equivalent) codecs in the Premiere timeline, you may have to use other resolutions.

Yeah, I've just checked, and Irfanview (http://www.irfanview.com/) is what I used for bulk conversion of images. Nice piece of software.

Hope it's useful for the next time you have to do it!
