    Networking on Windows XP Home

I'm trying to fix two laptops belonging to a friend of mine. They both have Windows XP Home on them.

The problem is that with the laptops on my LAN, wired or wireless, they are both invisible. That is neither laptop can be ping'd, however they can ping out to other PCs on my network.

Both laptops are using DHCP, and the LAN is operating on class C addresses (I think thats right) - all 192.168.0.n.

Anybody got any ideas? I've disabled the windows firewall to no avail, the laptops are still invisible, and no resources can be access remotely.

    Any help appreciated!

    Mut.

I figured out what the problem was. One laptop had two firewalls running - Windows firewall, and Norton Security. Having switched off the windows firewall, problems persisted until I discovered Norton running, which was running in an "aggresively silent" mode..!
