Whenever I have it open, my hard drive goes crazy and doesn't stop reading/writing/whatever it's doing. But as soon as I close Kazaa, it stops. Why is it doing this ??!

erm, probably because its searching for shared files, or you are downloading stuff, dont forget if you download files over a long period, they become fragmented.
Its a rubbishrubbishrubbishrubbishe file sharing prog stuffed full of spyware anyway.
I suggest you get a copy of adaware www.lavasoft.com
Yep found out it was because I was downloading to C:\, and it was scanning the entire drive, lol. I know Kazaa is full of crap, but Kazaa LITE isn't

I find winmx to be better than kazaa these days. Seems to be too many false files on kazaa
WinMX used to be good, but I'll be lucky to get a download started these days. Kazaa and Emule I like.

You guys better try dc++
Way better than kazaa lite
P4 1.8A @ 2.4 GHz With TT Volcano 7+|Epox 4BDA+|1 Gig Samsung 2100 DDR @ 2700 Speed|Gainward GeForce PowerPack! Ultra/650-8X XP “Golden Sample” |80Gb 7200 RPM WD + 15Gb 7200 RPM WD|SBLive + ALtec Lansig 4.1 Speakers|Samsung SyncMaster 955DF Monitor|Chieftec Full Tower Server Case with 2x120 MM Side Fans + 2x80 MM Front + 2x 80 MM Back Fans|Running WinXP Pro Corp Edition SP1|TDK VeloCD 48x CD Burner
DC++ is the only thing I use these days.
Living and dying laughing and crying
Once you have seen it you will never be the same
Life in the fast lane is just how it seems
Hard and it is heavy dirty and mean
I always use DC++ but have been moving over to kaz recently since being behind a server firewall (uni)
remember the faster your connection, the more files kazzaa wil lshare so your hard drive will cruch away if yo're uploading a few files to 15 odd ppl.

DC++ wait hours for one download to finish, i gave up with it a year ago myself.
You only need to find nice hubs where ppl respect eachother's downloads. There are a few. Bouncing around different hubs to download bigger files will always result in failure.

Another vote for DC++ here - cracking piece of software, as long as you find a decent hub to join. I used to use it to help distribute my bands music freely, and I plan to do so with my current project. Long as you don't spam, mods don't usually seem to mind if you pimp your band files, etc. Which is nice.
I've done that a few times but sometimes i would leave it on the same hub.Originally posted by p0lish

Shareaza seems to be quite good. Not that I share that much stuff really.

To verify you arent downloading fake KaZaA files may I suggest www.verifieddownloads.com ?
Kazaa ++ for Music
BitTorrent for New or Mainstream stuff
eMule for hard to find or rare files.
If you follow that you should be able to get everything you want without much trouble.
