Is it worth moving to windows XP?

for the 50quid it will cost you for XP home off ebuyer, yes it is worth it. The difference is bigger than most people imagine, higher compatability, generally better performance in games compared to 2k..stability wise not much difference really but when it comes to games XP has always seemed better.

Vista will not be out for another year or so, and based on that I would say that XP is worth the upgrade.

personally i wouldn't have spent the money on it, but i enrolled in the Microsoft Partner program and got the Action Pack with about £5000 of software four £200 a year. so everything i have is at the latest version now.

some things are much much better in XP though. Wirless management is great. Also there is a severe lack of patches and security fixes for 2K now.

You weren't wrong there.... I finally upgraded and am not looking back, everything seems a lot better in XP! Games I couldn't play at very high detail before are now flying!

Have to agree, made the jump from 2000 to XP about a year ago and haven't looked back. Games are just so much better supported under XP. Well worth the money.

Meh, more stuff runs (than linux) it's just slower (than XP)... Hardly shocking, i think the clue was in the word 'beta' DX10 should (on it's own) boost performance considerably as it's got some very good optimizations over DX9 in execution paths..


Build 5456 seems much quicker based on a days use (although for work not play..)

On topic: yes i'd do it for better security, better wireless networking, better USB support etc etc.. WinXP is what W2k should of been in the first place.
