Internet
Aramiska Satellite Modem (port forwarding for FTP)
LAN
SME 6.03b - ProFTPd
Right, when I upload to the SME server (via the port forwarding), I get a good speed of ~5.5kb/s.
When I try to download from the SME Server, I get a crappy rate of ~0.5kb/s
Nothing else is going on connection wise while I attempted the above.
Any idea why its so slow?

You tested the speed on any other FTP servers?

Yup, ~6kb/s upload ~6kb/s download.
So I think its safe to say its not the Client or its dialup connection.
Its either the satellite connection, the port forwarding, or the SME FTP server. I know satellite transfer can be a bit dodgy when lots of handshaking is needed (what with the lag), but FTP is a very simple connection...
