I dont know about PHP specifically but the Sams Teach yourself in 24 hours ones are pretty good, so of they do a PHP one that will prolly be good.

"PHP and MySQL Web Development" by SAMS is my bible at the moment. It sometimes doesn't explain itself very well, but if you're going to be using MySQL at all in addition to PHP, it's a very good book

I find the .chm file that php.net supplies themselves is quite usefull for function reference and the online one is even better as it contains code examples from other users solving problems you might run into.

Thank you all for your replies.

I've just been down to two of my local libraries, a large Waterstones and a Books Etc store and tbh, I dont think i've ever seen a more pathetic range of books. ASP books can be found a plenty, but PHP books? Can't have been more than about 10 different titles between them. Anway, rant over

I managed to have a look at the "PHP and MySQL Web Development" and the "Begining PHP4" and both look good so I'll pop over to amazon now and buy 'em.

    Thanks again

    Ed
