Internet works but………

Just been looking at my friends computer and the internet is playing up…
She has waitrose internet provider installed and when she connects, things like yahoo and Norton live update work… plus email via outlook… but no explorer, I have now installed the computer at work on the lan and I get the same problem, I pulled off two harmless virus’s but nothing that should have messed the ie up…

Any ideas?

try a different browser, mozilla firebird is a small download and good, just to confirm it is i.e and not something else

Right click on IE, choose properties (or tools, Internet options in IE), goto "Connections" tab goto "Lan settings" button make sure all 3 boxes are unticked.
