Quick question about XP OEM and the vista voucher

I'm putting together a system for my mate and he is going to need an os.

Can I just get an OEM version of XP of somewhere like Scan

and then pay the difference when Vista comes out.

PLEASE NOTE: This voucher is ONLY valid if the software is Pre-Installed on a fully built system.

I'm worried about the above quote though.

Any ideas?

I'm interested to know this too, as I have just placed an order for a whole new system, and have purchased XP Pro with one of these vouchers.

As I'm building the computer myself, could that not be taken as I'm providing myself with a fully built system and pre-installing windows for me?

Or if it means Scan, or whoever, has to build the system first to be entitled to the voucher, why mention the voucher on the Windows product page? Why not just mention it on their 3XS page for example?

It just doesn't seem very clear to me.

your best off asking the scan staff or ms.

theres a post on the scan forum. if the machine has not been pre built with xp installed then the upgrade voucher cant be used as far as i understand it.

Never mind, I may give it a couple of months, then take the plunge and get Vista Ultimate.
