A bike shop? Puncture repair kits are so cheap, you may as well buy a new one.
I guess you might get just the glue from a hardware store.

fuddam just buy another kit - they are about £2 from wiggle or chainreactioncycles, and free delivery.

Better to buy two at once. Open only one tube at a time, but take the tube out of the second kit along with you as well without opening it. That way you are guaranteed to have a good tube when you need it. If you do this you will have hundred of surplus tubes of glue and always run out of patches instead.

turns out Halfords sells it buy the tube, exclu the other bits.
the problem with that sold IN kits is that they're usually quite small - this is goodly sized.

Poundland or similar seem to do puncture repair kits with ~6 patches, and a decent amount of vulcanising gloop, as well as the lever things, sandpaper, chalk thing and a nice little box to put it all in.

ah but one day you will inevitably not screw the cap on properly, then when you next need it will have dried out. which is why two little tubes are better, the one you used last time plus an unbroken one.

I like redundancy; since the time I had to push 5 miles cross-country because I had a puncture and found my pump had failed, I now carry two pumps

Our local '99p shop' does the same - just bought one - 2 tubes of glue, bunch of patches, dumbell spanner, 2 tyre levers, 3 allen keys, something that looks like a small cheese grater for roughening the tube, 2 valve caps, 2 short lengths of rubber valve tube (useful if your bike was made before 1950!!)...and a "a nice little box to put it all in". Amazing value for 99p!

Re: where to buy vulcanising glue for punctures?

I just want to add my to cents to this puncture situation. Its a tip more than anything else....

If you have those high pressure prester values as pictured here, then it might be worth you buying an adapter which turns it into a Schraeder valve which is the same thing found on car tyres and most bikes. The reason being if you are out on a long cycle, that will take you miles from home or on holiday and don't take any repair kit then you might need to take it to somewhere for someone to fix it for you - so that you can at least cycle to your car or back home. The problem is a lot of places might not have pumps for prester values, so your stuck but they will more than likely have the Schraeder type fitting since is more common, so you'll be ok . It could be the difference between you walking that 10 miles or cycling that 10 miles home/to the car.

Those adapters can be had in Halfords for the same price btw.

Re: where to buy vulcanising glue for punctures?

This is such a cheapskate thread it's unreal - it would cost about £1.50 more to replace the tubes for ones with schrader valves (which are good for equally high pressures)

So in that spirit, don't waste up to £2 per wheel buying expensive rim tape - buy some electrical tape instead. One roll costs abouts £1 and is enough to put two layers around four 26" rims

Some wheels are only drilled for schraeda (sp?) valves. Personally i always carry two tubes, one nokian DH 2.5" for the rear (which will do for 2.2" on the front) and one normal one for the front, which will do (albiet you have to be very gentle with it on the back. That said, i do usually carry 2 repair kits as well (people often refer to me as mcguyver.)

The number 1 thing anyone should have is a powerlink, cost about 99p, and will save you ages of faffing.
