    Cheap exercise...

Anyone got any intelligent (ha!) ideas of cheap exercise.

I need to do some, my wobble is starting to cause earthquakes. (curves are good, I know... but seriously.)

I have no spare disposable income so Gyms are out of the question, and this also means that regular Swimming visits are out.

I just need some Ideas of things to keep me occupied because I have the attention span of a goldfish.

    Thanks all!

Apart from there's too many of them!

Running is boring... and it also isn't good for my back.

I know the obvious things, just wondering if peoples had any inspired ideas?

    Re: Cheap exercise...

If you have a bike, cycle!

It's tremendous, if your going quickly, its fun going round corners at high speeds - if your going slowly you can gaze around the countryside (or, the..city, if you live in a city) and see how cool it all looks.

And it's not so high impact for the knees, which is useful - cuz' mine always seem to be a bit sore after playing football etc, but no Cycling

Seriously, I love it - I reccomend it.

10 mile cycle + sit ups/[insert other exercise here] every day/2nd day will sort out any 'curve' issues you have!

    Re: Cheap exercise...

Well I bowl for over an hour every week too which is rather good exercise.

I just find that running is boring and swimming is very expensive.

If you don't want to do running - take it easier and go for a wander ( just avoid willen lake car park late at night !! )

Tennis is cheap once the raquet is aquired.
Football - one for the lads really.
Rollerblading - go on laugh why don't you but the workout on my legs when I use these for travelling to and from my mates is great and I just fly from A to B. My balance has also improved so thats another benefit.

    Re: Cheap exercise...

As far as calorie burning goes, your body doesn't care what kind of excercise it is, just use more energy than you take in. As such, just doing anything to increase energy output throughout the day can have a huge effect - every time you walk somewhere take a different route, add in extra journeys, make yourself get up and walk to the other end of the office at least once an hour, tap your feet under the desk etc etc.

    Re: Cheap exercise...

There are loads of ways to get a sweat on in your own home/garden.

Jogging, push ups, sit ups, burpees, kickouts, squats, dips, shadow boxing etc etc.

The only kit you need is a bit of space and chair for dips/increasing pushups resistance.

    Re: Cheap exercise...

If you've got stairs at your house just do 10-15 mins step-ups (just use the first step.) Boring as hell but effective exercise to start off with - if you've got a tv nearby or a walkman/MP3 player that should help.

Otherwise, as the others have said, walking, running, cycling are all good. Good luck.
