    new road bike!

think its time for a new bike, mountain bike needs new gears and chainset so thought id repair that as a hobby (take my time) and get myself a brand spanking new road bike to cycle on

now, i have never rode a road bike but will go have a look at some in evans and take one for a test ride!

now been looking and the two i like the look of are:
Pinnacle Expede 0.0 2009 Cyclo Cross Bike £699.99
    http://www.evanscycles.com/products/...-bike-ec018116
    &
Felt F95 Team Issue 2009 Road Bike £629.99 (have a 10% off voucher that only works on non discounted bikes)
    http://www.evanscycles.com/products/...-bike-ec017090

which one out of these two or around the same price (no chance over 700 at all!) would be a good road bike?

i've heard a lot of good reviews about this

    http://www.bikeradar.com/road/gear/c.../comp-08-22946

I rarely do road riding, but a couple of mates do and they said these are great bikes!

Thats the 08 frame, might be able to pick one up somewhere, dont know how much the 09 is going for nowadays!

One of them is a better road bike than the other. However, that's probably down to one of them not being a road bike

People tend to use Cross bikes on the road if they intend to cycle through all manner of rubbish in winter. They also make a good base for commuter bikes with mud guards and racks in mind.

However, it's not a full on road machine by any stretch of the imagination.

    Re: new road bike!

duster is a great hardtail - though personally for my choice and the kind of money you want to spend on a XT - i'd look at Santa Cruz or Cove maybe! Stiffee frames are just awesome to ride!

Mine was a custom build around the Duster frame rather than a prebuilt package, but it's somewhat similar to the XT in some places I guess.
