do you have a smartphone? several apps that will do this for you
I have a dell streak which is huge so couldnt take it with me
are you looking for GPS or pedometer?
latter is pretty unreliable unless you be running on road surface with not too much in the way of hills.
One can never stop saying Thank You
Well there's a review of "Garmin's entry-level Forerunner 110" on Hexus, a bargain at £169.99 :s Maybe something second hand?
think it depends on the phone. I do a lot of trail running (ie very twisty) with friends, and we're all using Endomondo, on different phones - iphone, blackberry, HTC, I'm using a Nokia N8. Very common to see different distances recorded, unfortunately, but good enough average.

Yeah, since I do the same route (lunchtime run, go figure ) I just plugged it into google maps once and remembered how long a lap is
Cheap and effective alright.
I use Endomondo on my iPhone, but used to use Nokia Sportracker before I got suckered in by the Apple marketing machine. Both were pretty easy to use, seemed relatively reliable (as long as you're not doing short, repetitive circuits) and were free (once you have the required phone).
