    Hexus target shooters

After a couple of others posted about shooting in another thread, just wondered who else shoots on here?

I currently shoot club rifles at Bisley, normally 600-1000m. Looking at doing a 2 day intro to f-class course early Feb, and planning to attend the open day in May. Both aimed at trying new disciplines, and hopefully learning some new skills. Having said that I should be taking delivery of a Steyr SSG-04 in 7.62 in the next couple of weeks. I got it for a good price so shouldn't lose out if I decide to trade it against something like a savage f-tr. I also shoot rim-fires and shotguns.

PS this post took ages to write, must find a better android tablet keyboard.

I used to shoot small and full bore at school but that was a long time ago
I did manage to get to a range in the states in the last couple of years but that was more on the handgun side. Limited to paintball these days which isn't exactly match accuracy

I use to shoot smallbore when I was in the RAF many moons ago. I was averaging 96.something iirc

Does shooting a L85A2 once a year count? This is assuming the simulator is actually working that day.

    Re: Hexus target shooters

I probably go to the range a couple of times a month, either there or to a big gravel pit in the woods. Usually take the AR-15 and Sig P226. I have up to 1000 yard range available and I'm usually the only person there. I'll shoot the AR-15 out to about 300 yards. I have a little Savage rimfire in .17HMR which will group nicely at 100 yards. Occasionally I'll take the M1 Garand out and shoot some cans or clays (stationary!).

I haven't done much long range precision shooting, mainly because the AR-15 already shoots more precisely than I can.

I used to do a Practical rifle competition at a different club but that closed to non-members. Like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TpY68W6yXmY

If I had the time I'd like to do some IDPA competitions: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eFDaVIbJ4AU

I'm considering a Beretta Nano as my next purchase, just for something a little easier to carry around.

    Re: Hexus target shooters

There seems to be an increase in the number of people shooting practical disciplines in the UK, using AR style rim fires or high capacity shotguns. I have tried quiet a few straight to pull ARs and AKs, there's even somebody doing a UK legal L1A1.

    Re: Hexus target shooters

I've recently got my licence just a few months ago. Shooting smallbore target, mostly @ 50M but the club i'm at has 100 yards and an indoor 25 yard range too.

Glad i took it up, really enjoying it. But struggling with consistancy.

    Re: Hexus target shooters

Is there some strange connection between Mr Flibble and firearms

Probably going to the NRA open day again this year to try some different disciplines, some rapid fire, and want to try BP pistols. They seem to be adding some more target options at Bisley, some of it was used in the civillian service rifle comp last month

What club do ou shoot with Andy, I am Kent based as well.

    Re: Hexus target shooters

I used to shoot with a workmate at the clyde valley club think my mate still does. Its not a cheap hobby. Went to the range at faslane and high point was getting to shoot a Dragunov. The pull was at the farthest reach of my arm and kicked like a bitch. Definitely was not a marksman 3 out of 5 at 400 yards for a 2 foot square target. ( If i remember right? and that was a good day.) That was with a KAR which is pretty much a laser rifle. So if I tried to hit a running target I would be completely screwed.

I never got my licence as I jokingly said "do chavs wear body armour" at the police interview.

I don't shoot at Bisley ranges, but I often run around the whole thing - is a nice 10 miles, mostly off road.

One can never stop saying Thank You
