    Question Anyone on Venlafaxine?

If so, what side-effects (if any) did you experience?

Being weaned off Prozac (Fluoxetine) in the next couple of weeks and moved to this SNRI (Serotonin-Norepinephrine Re-uptake Inhibitor), not sure what to expect tbh.

Hope this is the correct forum for the question lol

I'm uncertain how to assist in the contribution OR potential moderating of this thread.

It's a good question.. and has a validity to several members I think.

But it's a very medical orientated question with far reaching potential.

Either way.... I wil wish you all the very best and remind you that, best will in the world, there is nothing like naturally occuring Omega 3 from fish oil for a bloody good diet of long term "happy". it won't sort depression.. but the very eating of a mackeral every day will be good for you anyway and you never know....... it did, after all, help man to evolve.

    Re: Anyone on Venlafaxine?

Thx dude, I have in fact started taking Fish Oil tablets and read up about Omega 3. It's really hard to know what is working and when, it's a slippery ol' thing (ha).

Yeah, from reading about other people's experiences elsewhere Venla appears to be efficacious for more people than most alternatives; side-effects however vary individual to individual. I'm just gonna have to find out the hard way...

http://www.drugs-forum.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=107 Contains a great deal of information on anti-depressants. Fair warning; extremely frank discussion of drug use, medicinal or otherwise and associated topics. Barely SFW, but offset by a wealth of experience and information(plenty of idiots too of course, this is the internet).

    You could also take a look at;

    Re: Anyone on Venlafaxine?

I used to take it and found it to be similar to others I've taken (sertraline/efexor, fluoxetine/prozac) e.g. feeling more tired, problems down there (well they are used for people with shall we say premature issues) and I don't know if it was because of the height of my illness at the time, but I was quite zoned out and forgetful.

    Re: Anyone on Venlafaxine?

Have a look on the NHS Choices website. When you go there it asks what you are using it for (Anxiety, Depression or Mood Disorders), once you click on the specific or closest one to what you want it gives you a full run down of the medication as if it were the full page of info you get with the medication in the box :

    http://www.nhs.uk/medicine-guides/pa...ne=Venlafaxine

Also please bear in mind mate, any info you are given by users here is no replacement for your GP or other medical services available in the UK

No, of course not dude thanks for the advice tho cheers! Problem with the professionals is that they don't have that much time to go into detail and unless they've actually taken the stuff themselves, can't tell you in advance what the side-effects are gonna be...

I'll take any further queries to those forums Chuckskull mentioned; from a preliminary browse it appears the outcomes are as various as the people who take them

I think you'd be better of taking lithium orotate or b12 injections, but thats just me.

Tried Lithium, didn't agree with me tbh... in fact we had numerous fights and arguments. She was always doing something to the iron levels in my blood

Was inspired to write a couple of little ditties whilst on it tho: one was about my pals in the Institution, Jack & Diane. The other was a sort of rock anthem about the friends in my head. I traded the latter song for some weed from a guy in Seattle, dunno what happened to him but I could have sworn I heard a tune on the radio that was tres similar (probably hallucinating tho)...
