What are your plans?
I have a season pass at my local, and a week in January on Hokkaido for some powder!

I've never tried skiiing, not even a dry slope. I'm sure it's fun and an adrenaline rush. It's just too spendy.
I'd rather drink my grappa in a warm location and go clubbing.

Be Careful on the Internet! I ran and tackled a drive by mining attack today. It's not designed to do anything than provide fake texts (say!)
I'm not really into yoghurt... the wife is, though. Would you like me to ask her?

Love it, but wife had some idiot ski through the back of her in a whiteout last time. Left her concussed and shaken. Last day of the trip so no chance to get back on the horse so to speak. That memory stuck. Now she's not interested in going again. Tbh I'm also hitting a point where I know I don't bounce anymore either so we'll probably sell our stuff, call time on it for now and just be thankful for the happy memories.
once, long ago, I thought the same.
then my (ex) girlfriend of the time convinced me to go for a week with some mates.
I had 5 dry slope lessons in the UK, and they were valuable. Not to learn to skii, because nothing prepares you for skiing.. but to learn to move in skiis, to turn 180 while stood, to slither badly down tiny slopes that seems immense at the time.
and then.. I went.
First day, I had a 4 hour lesson where I learned just how much food I actually need to consume to maintain energy... and how much water. And just before I was ready to throw the skiis in a hedge (if I could find one) and burn the boots... I had a small victory and then the instructor dropped me off with my mates who were all pretty good at skiing. I crashed a lot but man.... I had a day. I ate all night.
Day two - same, but with more food in me, bananas in my pockets, and I made progress..
by Day four, I swear I was in love.
by the last day I was in heaven... in heaven that may never be improved upon. I never laughed and smiled as much in my motor sport days.
I went the following year and it was even better....I was better at it
and the third year, while me and the (ex) missus were arguing a lot, I went skiing with other people and had the best week of my life.
And I went away with two buddies for a 3 day trip to skii and ....that was it...
---
We split, my wife now doesn't skii, we have never been but the magic remains in my heart.
If you can go.... go... save every penny, with every molecule of your soul and go skiing.
To be atop a mountain and to have miles of snow ahead... to choose skii lifts and slopes that takes you across the mountains for lunch in a different town, and to skii home after, is a thing that nearly makes me cry with such happiness.
It's a 10/10

TBH we didn't think the cost was too bad. The hostel/hotel we stayed in was only 3 star but perfectly adequate but the ski area was superb both interms of range, conditions & facilities.
Normally we like to stay in a catered chalet but finding good deals on them is a real lottery. That's why La Plagne was so good, we got a catered 4* chalet, ski in ski out, flights, transfers, lift passes, ski hire etc all for just under £900/person. And then to cap it all off the weather was unbelievable, massive dumps of snow in the 2 weeks before we arrived and then on arrival unbroken sun for the next week! It was literally skiing in tee shirts and jacket weather. Never had it so good.
Ya know... I might just get into skiing if I can do it like this:

Austrian Alps still my favourite.
Grab that. Get that. Check it out. Bring that here. Grab anything useful. Take anything good.
