    N5200PRO Hard Disk Compatibility

    Hi all,

Im looking to buy a N5200 pro regardless of the mix reviews

I want to put some WD RE2 drives into the NAS but noticed on:

N5200/N5200PRO Hard Disk Compatibility Test Report:
    www thecus.com/download/other/N5200_N5200PRO_HDD_list_2007-09-12.pdf

that the drives im looking at (WD RE2) have issues i see they have a fix for them by the way of new firmware -

the drive has issues about being dropped from a NAS - fix here: support.wdc.com/download/index.asp?cxml=n&pid=15&swid=57]Downloads

I was wondering if anyone here had used WD RE2 drives on this NAS? Or if anyone has any suggestions for very reliable drives

    Thanks in advance

seems i cant post urls ......grrr ;(

I posted some responses here, maybe outdated, but would probably answer your questions:

I had my first N5200 in heavy usage since the beginning of January 2008 and I'm configuring two more N5200 Pro right now. All of them are full of the Seagate ST31000340AS

    Hi,

    I have 3 WD5000ABYS disks (latest RE2 disks) and
2 WD5000YS (latest firmware installed from link in your post) and I have no problems running raid 6.
    Current uptime 64 days.
