    Thanks for the fast support! Sad news, indeed. I've never had a disk dyeing before so I wasn't aware of the risk. Do you know any way to get the data back or should I just go for a new disk, create some better RAID next time and forget about the data?

    Re: RAID configuration is lost on a N4100 - HELP!!!!

    Just to add to the confusion :
    a few days ago I shutdown my 4100 V1.304 4x750G via the menu and switched it off. When I switched it on yesterday, it beeped and the drive lights began flickering wildly. After I couldn't display the shares for a while I finally went in with the web GUI and saw that it was building ... Sh*t! Nothing totally irreplaceable, but certainly a big pain!
    So I waited roughly 20 hours until the build was finished, of course no folders ... oh, well. While I was at it, I decided to upgrade to 1.306 and later rebooted. Lo and behold! All folders were back! The files look intact and healthy (which I will verify for the majority with an old backup). What gives?

    Anyway, I'm happy that I can relax now, but judging from the above posts, at least 1.304 must have been a bummer. Is Thecus interested in logs (if they exist - I didn't turn them on), there might be something in the secret innards (if Thecus asks for access although "normal" ssh and telnet don't work, there must be some "funny" port ...)?

    Cheers

    Dear Sir,

    On theory even V1.3.04 would saw the data after rebuild completed, thus please provide the CONF.BIN to http://esupport.thecus.com for us analysis for you.
    SYSTEM->CONFIG MGMT->DOWNLOAD->CONF.BIN

    Thecus TPE team is having a couple of days off from Jan 22nd to Feb 1st for the Chinese New Year. During these days, we still handle some simple technical issues remotely; however, for some cases which will need a specific network environment to test, we will do them as soon as we start working on Feb 2nd. We deeply appreciate your patient and apologize for any inconveniences brought to you!

    Hi Yvon,
    I'm impressed. Of course I'm in the same timezone - Shenzhen - that helps . After the (re)build I didn't reboot, perhaps I should have. Anyway, I'll send the conf file (funny, opera saved it as "*.htm" - another bug?), it'll keep until after the 1st.

    I just lost my RAID configuration on a N5200, did create a ticket: VZX-989593 and sent the conf.bin file.

    I have a question for those who went through this problem before, what are the steps Thecus Support provides to get the RAID back? Can I recreate the RAID or will I then loose all the filesystems on it? My RAID was RAID-6.

    Wait or chase them, till they contact you: besides some possible action to confirm the issue with the RAID loss, they'll ask for a direct connection to your NAS.

    If no remote fix is possible and they believe there is something they can recover, they'll ask for a return.

    So if you do anything on your machine in the meantime, you only take the risks to continue on the route to data-lethal disaster.

    Apologies for that. However the error message I get is exactly the same as described here, and I guess the whole MD/LVM setup doesn't differ much between the N5200 and the N4100.
