    N5200 Nsync Set Up Problems

    Hi

I have two N5200's. I would like to back up the shared folder on unit A with unit B on schedule. Both have identical drives built as RAID 5. I created a user "nsyncsource1" on unit B and added it to the nsync folder ACL as described in the manual. I also went ahead and enabled FTP on both machines.

Both units are connected to the same ethernet hub with no router between them.

When I add a Nsync task on unit A with the IP and user name set up on unit B and test the connection, it reports "...success..." .

But when I manually start the task, it starts and then reports PERMISSION DENIED after about 10 secs.

I doubled checked all user names and write permissions to the nsync folder, yet I cannot get it to work with either Thecus or FTP protocal.

Any ideas of things not mentioned in the manual?

    DaveB

Hi Yvon. Thank you. I got it.
Here are a few questions for you. I've set up a Nsync task on the source N5200 as indicated and get a SUCCESS on a small test folder with less than 500 Megs. So I think it works.

Yet when I add a task and choose the main share folder with over 500 GB of files from our company, it starts but seems to hang.

I started the Nsync at 1AM. When I returned at 8AM the task was still "in progress" on the same file.
I can see the progress info window is stuck on a file called "lindbergh-file.txt" Is it because of the dash character "-" in the name?. Also, some of the files are larger than 2GB. I wonder if Nsync will work with those.

On the source N5200 LCD "HBT LOG FULL" now shows on the LCD and it keeps entering self test.
Also "DISK INFO[00000]"shows on both LCD's as it rotates through the normal info. What does that mean?

I'm considering using backup software and doing a network backup over the LAN.

    Any suggestions are welcome

I've had this problem as well.
If you want to look at the log just press [ESC] button under LCD screen, to clear the log just press [▼]+[←┘] both button at the same time.
I cleared it and it never filled again.
DISK INFO[00000] means that you have 5 working disks, when one fails I think it looks like DISK INFO[0*000] (I can't remember the character for a failed disk)
It is normal to see DISK INFO[00000]
Nsync problem, don't know "-" can be used AFAIK.
