    No need for raid

    can i use my N3200pro with 3 unformattet harddrive? so i can view my files located in those 3 harddrives ? without having to format the harddrive? in any way?

    I assume You want to put in already formatted Harddrives.

    Are you 100% about this ?

    its very bad if i had ANOTHER NAS and want to move to thecus, and i dont use JBOD or RAID previously. then i have to format it :S


    dissapointing i know linksys NAS offer that possibility.

    hmm, thats not the usual way - all NAS I know You have to format the harddiscs

    OK.. What if you do format them. Is it possible to set them up as independent drives? If so what raid mode should I use? The reason being that if one starts to fail I dont want to have to copy all the data from the raid on to a USB disk. I would prefer to just copy it on to open of the other drives and then replace to failing drive.

    No, thats only possible on modells which supports multiple raids. Thats the N5200pro, N7700 and N8800.

    I personally would use RAID5 with 3 drives. This gives You a data capacity of 2 times the drive size. If a drive fails, then theres no need to copy data around, thats the task of the raid - You simply replace the failed drive and the RAID rebuilds itself.
