    N4100PRO + Email Notification

    Hi,

I've got a problem while configurating the email notification for my NAS.
    Here the paramaters :
    SMTP Serveur : relay.skynet.be (port 25)
    Authentification : login
    Login : ******
    Password ****
    email from = raid @ thecus.com

I can't receive any notification mail by the test button...

I know that the NAS can reach internet, because the download manager works fine...
The IP Config is good too.
I know the parameters for the smtp server are good because I use them with Outlook and it works too...

I don't know what to do...?
    Thank you

    Re: N4100PRO + Email Notification

Try Your email adress which You also use in Outlook as from adress - I assume the mailserver does not allow relay (which is a common configuration) and the from adress is a foreign one for Your mailserver

    Re: N4100PRO + Email Notification

I'm not so familiar with the 4100, but I had a problem on my 5200PRO, where I hadn't set the default gateway in the WAN settings.
That had prevented it from sending any e-mails. Setting it to 192.168.1.1, (or whatever your gateway is) might sort it out?
As I say, I'm not sure how different the 4100 is, so please ignore me if I'm talking rubbish!

And also don't forget to set the DNS entry in the WAN configuration, even if the WAN port is not used

    Hi,

    Thanks for your help.
I tested all you said to me, but it doesn't work...
The DNS and Default gateways are set, the same that for my computer.
I changed the "email from" but it doesn't change anything...
    An other idea...?

Is the N4100pro connected via LAN or WAN interface to Your internal network?

    Re: N4100PRO + Email Notification

    Hi,

the nas is connected by the WAN port, I think.
    Does it matter...?
I guess so. You wouldn't ask it if not...

    Re: N4100PRO + Email Notification

Sometimes it only works via WAN port - is Your password less than 12 characters - thats the limit on the Thecus NAS.

    Re: N4100PRO + Email Notification

    Hi.
I tested with the 2 port, the result is the same : no mail.
My password is less than 12 caracters.
I don't know what else I can do...

    Re: N4100PRO + Email Notification

The thecus acts like an email client - so if You enter all settings like You have in Your e-mail client, then it should work.
E-mail from : the mail adress You have received from this provider
