1u4500 backup

I've got a 1TB USB Hard Drive ready to go and an 1U4500 im trying to work out how to backup the data on the 1U4500 by plugging the USB drive into the thecus.
It appears everything is setup to copy data off the USB drive not data onto it.

Does anyone know how to get it to copy data onto the drive periodically.

You'd probably have to write a shell script to do that, I think.
