    Cool Nsync folders

Hi, this might be a newbie question... but here goes anyways:

I have an older N5200 PRO and would like to copy files (as fast as possible) to my new N5500. I'm using the LAN ports of both systems in my home network. After trying USB copy to an external HD, which requires two times the copy (once from N5200 to HD and once from HD to N5500), I decided to connect both WAN ports via a cross-over cable and to use nsync for copying over files/directories (avoiding the usage of a desktop PC and copying over the LAN).

Now, on the source N5200, I seem to be able to only select the shared folders, not the desired subdirectory within that shared folder... Is this correct ?

On the target N5500, the default target directory is nsync. Can this be changed ? The reason I'm asking is because I want to move these files to another directory on the N5500 and this would be much faster within the same partition (or share)...

    Looking forward to your comments.
    Christopher.

    Re: Nsync folders

nsync works only with shared folders on top level.

Yes, it can be changed wirth the help of some modules.

    On the target side:
You need PUREFTPD module (available or the N5200, but other users reported that these modules are also working on the N5500).
    1) install and enable the module
    2) create a user which You want to use for the nsync transfer
    3) create a share where You want to store Your files
    4) give the baove user read/write access to the above created share
    4) create a folder "nsync" within this share
    5) via module property page of the PUREFTPD module define now a home directory for the above created user - this should be /raid/data/<name of the above created share>

    On the source:
Create the nsync task - use "legacy ftp", use the above created user.
The data will be no synced to the nsync folder of the above created share on the target

If You want to sync Your data to different shares on the target, then You have to create one user per share on the target and use thsi user in the nsync tasks
