    continuous and loud beeping!!!

    hey

my computer crashed the other day and on reboot makes a continuous and regular beeping noise which despite turning off my speakers and putting the coputer on mute still continues. My keyboard has also stopped working and is definatly connected properly.

any help/suggestions would be very helpful

    ps i have windows 2000

    thanks

    Andy

Hi ... the motherboard has its own speaker. You may be getting a fan low - speed warning. ... or maybe something else. when you start up the PC, hold down the DEL key. this should boot you into the BIOS. check the fan-speeds, adjust the thresholds, etc...

Remove any recent programs / screensavers / widgets etc, etc... as these may be causing a conflict.

    alternatively reload windows.

Think about getting a more advanced pc , with windows xp. xp uses multiple - threading, so is more stable, and only one program crashes. I think windows 2000 uses only 1 thread, so if one program crashes, then the whole lot crashes too.

Hope this was helpful ... cheers, John
