sounds like my old motherboard I had, the one before the sli premium. it has no heatpipe off the northbridge chip. noisy!
You could remove the fan carefully and put the zalman silent sink (zm-nb47) on instead. I found it gets quite hot to the touch though. I had quite good results on the fx57 chip with the zalman (cnps 7700-alcu). The twin ram tends to block some airflow to the northbridge sink.
theres a few different solutions though, including changing the motherboard for a quiter one. a bit costly! have a look at the prebuilt systems on overclockers.com ,, and see products at quietpc.com ... I bought most of my bits at overclockers, and they deliver really fast. Hope this was helpful. cheers!
