Is that in Vista or in XP? I take it you're aware that 'Sleep' in Vista is not the same as 'Standby' in XP?

When you do a 'Sleep' in Vista, it also saves resume data to the hard drive (a la Hibernate) so that if you lose AC power whilst the machine's asleep, it can still resume with no loss of data. On my desktop with 2GB RAM that takes around 10-20 seconds I guess, never timed it, but it could be longer...

Sorry if I'm telling you something you already know.

    Hello:
I just bought a MB Asus M2NPV-VM with the same problem freez up when go to standby mode, I have fixed this way:
    1) change Jumpers of USB ports from +5v(default) to +5vSB. Which allow it to work with S3 mode.
    2) Insert your MotherBoard support CD and use it to remove the AMD COOL'N QUIET DRIVER,

The second option maybe the only one need it, but that was what I did.
It seems that cool'n quiet driver which it is install in the WinXP inviroment have conflict with bios cool'n quiet system.
    Good luck.
