It is always fun when you miss a few days
I have 2 comments:-
1) Given the awesome power that this kind of system has in the stright-CPU department... why no graphics option? (particularly in light of the fact that you are opting for a 20" panel which (probably) only does 1680)
2) In terms of AMD vs Intel, the 'match ups' right now are a lot closer than they were 3-4 months ago... but it is still hard to see the 'win'.
I think the closest that AMD get is with the 6000+ (£150) against the E6600 (£138)... but I don't think this is a 'win'

My guess is that another price adjustment would be needed to make the products line up
In this case (6000+ against the E6600) you would need to offer the 6000+ for around £120 to get a 'certain win'
BEAR IN MIND THAT THE REST OF THE SYSTEM COSTS MAY NOT BE EQUAL !
e.g. the mainboard for the Intel chip might actually cost more etc
Still, in this situation, it is hard to argue with Blitzen...

Which is why i said im going with the QX6800, the machine isnt built to be the fastest machine in the UK, its built to be the most stable, and it wont have no power drains when the massive 768mb graphics cards kick in and warm up.
If i wanted the machine for games yes i would use a faltality amd version and drop a 64x2 into it. (but its not for games so read what i actually wrote lol not what got confused i got asked twice the same thing lol)
Damien,
Is it OK to ask what you actually intend to use this beast for ?

Worth knowing - especially with the price of the 4-core Kentsfield chips coming down to £235+vat
If he is using multi-core aware OS and Apps (maybe Adobe on Vista - but I don't know for sure)...
...then he may get a HUGE kick in performance

Its going to be used for HD encoding and office work when its not encoding.
Office work ?!
If you're not a gamer, even 1x 8800GTX is massive, massive overkill, why not just ditch them and buy a monster display?
