Cooling outside the box... Ambient stuff ?

Lots of hard-earned wonga seems to be making its way to the inside of the chassis from Clankiller et al...

...but have you lot ever tried cooling the air that goes in, to see what difference that makes ?

I remember chatting with Macci around 3 years ago - pondering why so many Nordics seem to take world records (Macci, Sampsa, Kinc & co)...

...and he said - in perfect English - with a perfectly straight face...

..."It is because we all practice the Helsinki manouever"

    "?" said I

"Put your system on the window sill at night and open the window to let the system fans begin sucking in air at -30 degrees. There you have it. Mega-Bench-Score-City... on air alone!"

Do you lot ALWAYS cool inside - or have you experimented by using an aircon unit to help induce cooler temperatures ?

I'd love to have everything open in the summer...

...but I hate mosquitos MORE than I hate being hot

If only there were a really cool [no pun intended] anti-mosquito 'fencing' that was (a) easy to fix and (b) unobtrusive...

...so that I could open me patio doors 100% without any of the blood-sucking b'stards getting in

I think Asetek (people behind Vapochill) do something like you are suggesting, but it is designed for servers...
