The issue with the psu sentinal error message and many 8xxx series G92 cards is the way the driver polls the psu, mainly the timing.
I have a antec TPQ-850 (no I am not antecrep Blitzen). Since the new Evga drivers came out I can log in right away and never get the error, they delay the timing that the video card polls the psu. Also I just installed a nvidia 98000gx2 to test on my antec powered computer and it pulls way more power than the 8800gt card. I never have gotten that issue since i have installed it 2 weeks ago using that same computer using the 9x drivers (same with my older 7950gx that I had previous to the 8800gt). So in short it could be a driver issue as evga has shown by fixing it in software (and by reading some replys here and other places it fixes it). I love how nvidia skates clean with all the issue that thier drivers cause.
I am no fanboy of antec either just reporting how my issue was solved. I do like my enermax DXX 850 better in my other computer than my antec as it is rock solid and much quieter.
Some Corsair/SilverStone PSU's have the same issues too.
this is a quote from a rep that responded in the below link
tomshardware.com/forum/248194-28-corsair-620hx-psus-8800-power-issues"Okay a little more info... apparently it is a timing issue, when your computer first turns on the PSU sends power down each line and then backs off waiting for the computer to start the boot process. With the G92 cards they are expecting to see this at a different time than when they are actually getting the signal and it causes them to think they are underpowered so they clock themselves back"
