    Heat Problem after upgrade.

    Hello all,

    After upgrading my PC yesterday, with the items listed below, my P4 processor temperature is quite high reaching 57c. and this is without running any large application or gamming.

    its a stange as before I upgrade the PC the Temp was max 55c and that was when gamming for a good coupleof hours.

    I managed to increase the speed on the Fan3 and Fan2 but not on the Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro CPU Cooler. Also I have a 12cm fan that blows the hot air out of the PC.

    I have not play yet as I want to make sure I dont damaged any components.

    22 November 2007 UPDATE

    HI guys, today when to your shop bought the termal paste and resited the coler the however the temperature still reach 57c.
    when I was installing BF2. have not play it yet.

    My porcessor is an Intel Pentium 4 3.HT

    However I was told that this processor works fine between 40 - 60c.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    09.43pm

    After running BF2 for 30 min the CPU temp reached 60c.. this is not good as before the upgrade never reached this temp!!!

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    11.13pm

    I have been reading the mobo manual to see if I can find the reason wjy the CPU is getting to hot, but not luck

    This is a report of the PC PRBOBE utility.

    Socket = LGA775
    Type = Central Processor
    Family = Pentium 4 Processor
    Manufacturer = Intel
    Processor ID = bfebfbff00000f34
    Version = Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 3.40GHz
    Voltage = 1.4 v
    External Clock = 200 MHz
    Max Speed = 3800 MHz
    Current Speed = 3400 MHz

    Cuold this be due to the Voltage set?

    Current Voltage is 1.3280v
    CPU TEMP: 52c
    System Temp: 31c
    Memory 1.900 V

    CPU Cooler: 2445rpm
    Fan 2:2481rpm
    I have a rear fan that is connected direct so not reading from mother board.

    That does sound like a rather high idle temperature... have you tried re-seating the HSF? Clean off any thermal paste, re-apply and try re-seating it.

    Re: Heat Problem after upgrade.

    For what its worth I have the same CPU at the moment running over-clocked to 3.8Ghz with a Scythe Ninja HeatPipe Cooler and 120mm fan YOYO Code : 94430 and it rarely gets as high as yours even during Company of Heroes.
    If you have tried a reseat of your heat-sink then it has to be the ambient temperature of your case is too high.
    Try running GPU-Z and see if you graphics card is getting just as hot. Or try running your rig with the case off and see if you see any drop in temp.
