    Re: My power supply

Your mistaken digital-one , for a desktop pc 380W is more than enough as it can run a mid range graphics card, dual core cpu, a couple of hard drives and an optical drive or two. For a gaming pc then 500W is ideal, a 620W-700W for Dual Graphics card and then 1000-1100W for quad graphics

Very true. I believe Dell XPS420 PCs (not that I'm recommending them or have one) come with a 380W or 450W PSU - these seem quite capable of running a Q6600 with 8800GTX.

I brought the 520W crossaire PSU from yoyotech (and a 8800 GTS 512MB). It's works fine (shame in internet dosen't now).

    A decent one will.

Uhuh i have a 380Watt Earthwatts PSU and im running like 5 case fans, 2 drives, one floppy, one optical, 3 pci cards and one 8800GTS totally stable.

but i do want to upgrade to a 520HX because i want the modular feature and the extra power to over clock a lil and to be safe.

They don't sell enermax, I heard the 520W is good, never used it though, but you should go for that I guess... usually if I have neverused it then I wouldn't recommend it...

    My power supply

    hi there all,

in store we would recommond the following psu fro systems......

    single card (8800gt/gts) - about 520w

    single card (8800gtx) - about 620w-700w
a good 520w will do - but have a slightly higher watt means the psu will not need to run at full load

    daul cards (8800gt/gts) - about 850w

    daul cards (8800gtx / x2) - about 1000w

these are all based on branded power supllies (antec / corsair / coolermaster / ocz)

    hope this helps
    mark

    Re: My power supply

I had a Hyper R 500watt and ran a XFX 7950gt extreme no problem, until I bought the XFX alpha dog series GTS8800 512mb but upon installing this card everytime I logged onto a online game of which I tried 3 different games my PC rebooted. So after asking around I then got a XCLIO14 750watt which has 4 12v rails and have not had a problem since.

But we have to ask ourselves a question here ?
Are we going to upgrade in the future, if so then get a decent PSU and build you PC with time and care instead of getting quick solutions which you land paying more than you realised.

Why do I say this you may ask, easy because I made the same mistake and have a cupboard full of PC spare parts. Get one part a month or every 2 months till you have a PC you want.
