    My first experience with Yoyotech

Have sent this following note via Yoyotech's website but have not received any reply. Let's try it this way:

    Hello Yoyotech

On Saturday, 22nd March, I called to check the availibility of a few computer components and ordered them to be collected on Monday, 24th of March 2008. I bought a CPU, a CPU cooler, a bluray drive and a mATX PC case, the Silverstone SG01-S Evolution in silver.

Before I decided for this case I was looking around for a long time.
As design & quality is very important to me, I found it difficult before I made my mind up.

When I took the goods over I noticed that the PC case box was not original sealed but taped with the yoyotech company tape.
I asked to have a look if it's the correct color because I was after the silver one and not the black model.

When the shop assistant (a very polite young man) opened the box I noticed that the PC case was just held by the two foam pads, without any plastic cover at all.
Since I know that original goods are factory sealed inside & outside, I mentioned straight away that this is not original sealed and might be even second hand.
The shop assistant understood what I meant straight away and went away to get the supervisor. A gentleman appeared and on my concern that this pc case was not brand new, he said that sometimes the cases come like that from the factory.
Well, I shook my head and said that this is not true. Brand new good ALWAYS come sealed by the manufacturer.
Then he said: "Oh, it might have been on display for one or two days." He did not appear to give a monkey about what I said.

I asked if I can have a look wether there were any scratches - he agreed.
Having inspected the case from all sides I noticed that a lot of fingerprints were mainly on the bottom of the case, plus 2 minor scratches on the frame.
Because it was the only model you had in stock, I decided to agree to buy it and paid the full asking price.
(edit: besides this, he couldn't care less to answer my questions if particular other items were in stock or not)

At home I notice that somebody must have pushed the cover onto the chassis in a rush because one bracket was badly bent. Thanks to the soft aluminium it was easy to straighten it again.
Actually I am a little bit disappointed because you did confirm to have this case in stock when I reserved it, but did not care to mention that'd be a display model.

Well, that was only for your information as I think you should know about how your customers think about making business with you. I don't expect unrealistic services, but I have the feeling that you underestimate that things like this do reflect back to you.

Again: I don't mean to ask for trouble, but only want to highlight that I did my bit: I paid the full ammount.
But you didn't do your bit: you sold me a display pc case without letting me know about it before.

Would be nice if you could give me a little statement wether this is common practise at Yoyotech or not.

With this email I do not intend to ask for any discount, and neither do I want anything extra.
Just answer this enquiry of mine please.

    With kind regards.

    *******

    With all due respect........

You had your suspicions about the item in question, yet despite that and the ignorance/indifference of a staff member you still went ahead and purchased at full price????

Are you not, by definition, encouraging this dodgy business practice?

I actually agree wiht most of what you said there.

If i suspected a case used i wouldve at least checked it thoroughly first.
If i was still unhappy, i wouldve required a discount. If not, i wouldve walked away.

I cannot understand the gripe if you were actually in the shop. Why not deal with it there and then?

Re: My first experience with Yoyotech

Well vaio and Blitzen ... you see, at the time when I was standing infront of this gentleman, who did let me check the item before I bought it, I somehow knew that I wouldn't get a penny off if I had asked because he defended straight away with the reasons meantioned in the letter above.

Of course I did not believe it when he tried to tell me that ... "Sometimes they just come like that".
I said "That's not true, brand new items from the manufacturer always come sealed."
He then said: "Oh, it might have been on display for one or two days."

I knew what game he was playing with me and as well did I know that any attempt of negotiation with this guy would result in him putting the box back to the shelf.

If they can't be bothered to answer my personal email, at least I can make you aware about it, for you not to make the same mistake like I did ... and if it helps one person only, this posting was already worth it.

Strange how many retailers still underestimate the value of customer services in England. Some people shouldn't have a job which involves being in contact with the public ...

Needless to say that I'll order somewhere else next time.

Re: My first experience with Yoyotech

I think its not yoyo, its you, knowing that this was the last item and you inspected the case and the shop asst agreed with you, yet you went ahead.
    And now your complaining!!
If anyone to blame, its yourself, or are your here just to see if you can get more out of them, knowing it was your mistake at the beginning?

Re: My first experience with Yoyotech

I've been buying from them for a while

Looks like you messed up and you want someone else to pick up on your mistake

M8ty you look at the case, opened, checked, ask questions and after all that you decided to go ahead
    and know your moaning,

It looks like you shop experience with yoyo is down to you not inspecting, thou that you did inspect the case, hmm, which one, either way , I think you want something out of them know

Or why dont you just take the case back and find out when they are gonna get more

Im not defending Yoyo but common sense shouldve prevailed dont you think?

Re: My first experience with Yoyotech

    I spent £ 5.20 for a daily travel card.

The case was £ 74.35 ... if I had not bought it (they couldn't tell me if / when this case would be in stock again), I would have had to spent unecessary travel money again to pick it up ... = too much hassle, and considering that my new PC components need a home (pc case) and I was keen for this particular case, I thought alright ... whatever dude.

Re: My first experience with Yoyotech

I have ordered a few silverstone cases and coolers, all factory sealed, but they have really bad quality control, the SG01I ordered had scratches all on the bottom, couldn't be bothered returning it, the cooler base had a burned in fingerprint, their RMA is in Germany so be warned, the case was most likely a display one though, and well I wouldn't buy a display one, you didn't have to, if you did you could of tried and got a discount...

Also note the stock on the system includes the display case, and the staff wouldn't know it was the display one left until actually looking for the item when you decide to buy it, it's common business practice to sell the display case at full price, as it costs the same as the other cases, usually your are not told it is the display one as the store would want to get rid of it, and a lot of customers don't want to buy the display items or would ask for a heavy discount....

OMG another one. I just you considered everything first before deciding what to do.

I have been dealing with YOYOtech now for over a year and I'm at the shop almost on a monthly basis and have never had any problems with them. Myabe it's just I deal with them with the right attitude.

Whether Cov bought the item or not is irrelevant. What is relevant is that the YoYo Tech salesman actually lied. That's a bit disturbing.
