I think it's ridiculous that if i click and reserve ONLINE that i should pay more then then online price just because i collect it from store. No company or service does this, what you click and reserve you pay for the exact same price as quoted online.

Whether it costs more to run a physical store means nothing to me as a customer, why should i pay more to fund whatever these costs are- ESPECIALLY when no other company does this.

I agree. Its surcharging for something you dont receive. Basically, some profit is being made on delivery charges when the customer doesnt even incur them???

    This is really confusing.

strange concept, so let me get this straight. You are charging us for delivery costs when we come to collect the goods from the store, when in actual fact to you (yoyotech) it makes no difference (cost wise) to supply the products to us either way? Actually it is less hassle for you (no packing, posting, etc) and also you'll make a nice little 'delivery charge' profit on top..

Come to think of it you're doing exactly the OPPOSITE of what scan is! They're offering free delivery and you're charging us for not getting it delivered!

    Great start.....

can i add i didnt start this topic to start slagging off Yo Yo Tech and shamelessly spinning another company, i put this topic up to improve Yo Yo Tech.

So can we keep the juvenile and cheap digs to a minimum? We've established we all agree that it's an unfair and ridiculous concept, all we can do now is to wait for a staff member to come back and respond properly.

this whole concept is mad. so even if we dont reserve and just pop in and happen to buy something we still get charged this 'fee'??? that is stupid, no matter how one tries to wrap it up.
If after all ,it is because of 'retail costs' firstly just becuase you have a central london store doesnt mean you can charge this frankly appaling fee. many online/retail companies offer reserve and collect systems but i dont exactly see them charge 10%. if you buy a gpu for £290 (and not the cheapest in the uk by the way) you then have to pay and extra £29!
for the consumer, who knows the 'true' price of products this is only going to push them away, im sure of course your average joe bloggs customer will however pay this charge - but then the products you stock are hardly for the casual consumer. so in effective the buisness model goes out the window and your target audience has switched.

Would it be a better idea for YoYoTech to keep web and high street pricing completely separate and not make any attempt to offer an additional discount?

Like I said a few posts back, whenever I used to buy kit it was always at weekends and after trawling one end of the West End to the other, I always ended up buying from YoYoTech.

Every post from customers who have been into the store itself seems to be glowing. These guys are saying that they want to have a system where you can place your order in advance, collect in the store and get a better price than if you just walked in off the street. And they are offering to do this in central London 7 days a week, 52 weeks a year. Maybe I am missing something and YoYoTech's language could have been more precise, but would we really prefer them to cancel the additional discount because it might seem a little complex?

Call me a numbnutz, but I'd rather have the additional discount even if it was not that large. Tottenham Court Road is an institution here in the UK and it is where everyone I know learnt to haggle. Bigger range and lower WEST END prices surely has to be a good thing, right ?

in theory yes but then you can say that anyone living in the manchester/bolton area can just pop into the scan shop and get all their computing needs at web prices without some tacky fee on top. i dont really see that just because their in london they need to hike up the prices - because they dont. the fact that their already losing customers over this relatively small issue isnt great, i for one was going to pop in but why should i buy when i know i can get it cheaper from other sources? surely thats the problem here - if they want to stay competitive in their chosen market they need to comprimise.

Someone mentioned PC world being the closes comparison to yoyo.

Pcworld reserve and collect price works out cheaper than the instore price and doesnt charge a extra delivery charge.

I'm confused, have I got this right:-

We look up the price on yoyotech web site NO RESERVING ETC JUST FOR PRICE INFO, then if we phone up or go to the store in LONDON it will be the same price to buy with no delivery charges. And further more whilst in the shop, if item is not in stock, could you ask them to get/reserve it for you without delivery charges and of course the same price as their web site.

Perhaps having a flat rate for reservations would be easier? Like £3? I wouldnt mind paying it. I mean, it IS faster if you can go and collect it.

Come in to work->Secretly browse and buy stuff->Reserve it for pickup->Finish work and go get your stuff
