Il start the ball rolling with a vote for the arctic cooling freezer 7 pro, ridiculous performance, and under £20!

I have the CNPS9500 AM2 would happily put money on the bigger version being very good indeed, probably better than the scythes, but they have the advantage you can swap fans or even add a second.

I dont think many things could match the scythe with a pair of delta screamers on it

http://www.frostytech.com/articlevie...id=2045&page=4 Shows quite how good the Zalman is.

Zalman are the best, the Arctic is cheap and tacky and noisy but it does do the trick. But cheap and tacky nonetheless

Zalman have a reputation for quality, but they are no longer the very best coolers...

I have a Scythe Ninja Rev B on my E6600, really good.

Never reaches over 35 degrees when playing BF2 really. I don't overclock though.

My PC is silent, have a 120mm fan running at 5v on it. But can work passively.

At an equivalent noise level the Infinity pounds the 9700 into the ground. When you start turning the 9700 up it's performance does start to look better, but at the expense of a very noticeable droning. The Infinity can run passive if you've decent case cooling - probably the best choice for overclocking with near-silence (for those that don't want to/can't go H20.

I should add I've got both the above (the Zalman now at work) though the Ninja B (not the original Ninja) is apparently slightly above the Infinity in the comparison I saw.

We definately stocked the Tuniqs and due to a number of requests and high demand on the Tuniq tower 120 we are contemplating bringing it back in. So lets hope for the best.

Yes the zalman is loud at full whack, but that doesn't bother me personally, because whenever I'm doing something that means the fan needs to be at 12v I either have music blaring or the sound of gunfire to drown it out

How about Tuniq Tower 120 to push Core2Duo to its limit.

Hence why the comment was about quality rather than performance

I do, however, agree fully that it depends very much on CPU/Clock Speed/Case/Ventilation, that you cannot make generalised comments about manufacturers. I would say, though, that Thermalright and Sycthe have a reputation for quality and performance that is thoroughly deserved. XP120/Si-97/Tuniq Tower anyone?

As far as cooling goes - there really is only one option

When we did an overclocking demonstration a few years back, I was quizing Sampsa and Macci about why so many world records were captured by Nordic enthusiasts

"That's cos we have the Helsinki maneuver" I was told

"Helsinki maneuver" I replied, "What's that?"

"You stick the PC on the sill then open the window. Ambient temperature drops by around 40 degrees and - hey presto - world records come a knocking"
