Thumbs down Antec 100 case problems

    Hi,
decided after years of using Antec cases(last one was the 300)to go for the new one Hundred case.
I decided to put a Gigabyte GA-890XA-UD3, Soundblaster Elite Pro and a regular(not long)GT9600 graphics card in it.
The motherboard is normal size ATX.
I fitted the board exactly over the standoffs after having to add the extra ones needed.
The board was lined up properly with the case.
When I inserted the graphics card there was no way I could put the screw in to hold it in place because there is a gap between the the bracket on the card and the "slot"at the back of the case.
The same is wrong with the soundcard.
To be able to put screws in to hold them I had to bend the card brackets to the left and insert the screws.
This nearly caused the cards to be pulled out of the pci and pci express 16 slots.
The other thing I do not think is good is the so called washable filter(how can you call the front perforated "grill"a filter?), it just lets dust into the case.
The dealer I got it from will not refund me or exchange the case because he says nothing is wrong with it.
I now have a case that I cannot use.

Not overly helpful, but you're not alone. I also have a case that can't be used.

Actually you can take it back. But it won't be easy. NB IANAL - Paging Saracen ! / Admins / Slash Mods. If this post is out of order, please delete.

A quick Google reveals - My bolding.

‘Satisfactory quality’ is further defined by section 14(2B) of the 1979 Sale of Goods Act, so that the quality of goods ‘includes their state and condition and the following (among others) are in appropriate cases aspects of the quality of goods –

    (a) fitness for all purposes for which goods of the kind in question are commonly supplied,

    (b) appearance and finish,

    (c) freedom from minor defects,

    (d) safety, and

    (e) durability’.

If the case is so poorly designed or manufactured that you are unable to fit PCIE cards, then it is not fit for purpose and may be returned to the retailer.

Pity. I liked the look of the 100 as well.

    Same problem with your one?
I emailed Antec who asked me for the date stamp details in the bottom of the case.
Then they said they would look into the problem.
    So far nothing.
Two other things people are being misled on are "Washable filter" and in the user manual(download from Antec)it says there are front fan cages and a reset button.
NO washable filter at all(the perforated front bezel is the filter so Antec said).
No way to fit fan filters.

Did you pay by credit card? May give you a bit more leverage on getting a refund from the supplier as you have the option to do a charge back on unfit goods.

No, entirely different issue. It's detailed here (http://forums.hexus.net/antec-care-h...emote-max.html) but it's quite a long and boring thread.

After 18 months of waiting, missed promises and blatant lies from Antec, I decided it'd be better to just buy from a different manufacturer and never buy Antec again.

Rather annoyingly they don't have an office in the UK so going via the courts seemed like too much hassle, I just put it down to experience and chose a different brand.

    Musicman,

This is exactly the sort of thing that our warranty is for. Email me at VIP@Antec.com and I'll make certain that this gets taken care of.
