Which console should I go for?

So I'm torn between the xbox one and ps4 and as I own a 306, im not sure about a change to the ps4 for a few reasons. Firstly I know the ps4 is much more powerful the than the xbox one, and the ps4 can play game at 1080p the majority of the time. Where as the xbox one can only manage 720p which is low, but will it make any major difference?

Secondly, I like the xbox controller and it feels comfortable to use for a few hours, where as the playstation controllers have never been great tbh! I did have a play around with one in Game this weekend, and although it seems nicer to hold than the ps3 controller im not sure.

So that's my two main things in deciding which one to buy, graphics and controller. Any previous xbox people who have bough the ps4? Would be great to hear some views on the ps4 over the xbox one and vice versa.

Careful.. you might end up like Sheldon! I'm interested in the "Last of Us Remastered" so I'm leaning towards the PS4 at the moment. The XBO platform looks like it's still evolving though, so it's hard to say conclusively at the moment.

Re: Which console should I go for?

I always just went for whichever one my friends didn't.

It's not as hipstery as it sounds, mind - it means you get to play all the exclusives regardless of the console.

Course now that online is more popular than split-screen maybe you'd be better off doing it the other way round so you've always got a server to join...

Actually this is harder than I thought it would be...
    Good luck!

At the moment both :-| I tend not to look for the exclusive titles really, as they are generally things I dont play. All the games I bought for the xbox 360 were also available on the ps3, so the exclusive game bit does not matter really.

Think I might by flipping a coin!!!

Re: Which console should I go for?

I've always been on xbox, so have friends. Because of that, I'd go xbox, but that's a personal choice. I don't play for graphics really - they're not as important to me as a good experience, something xbox brings, unlike PS (for me personally) - pc gaming has proven that to me. I have a good computer that can play games in 1080p etc, but the experience isn't as good, so I'm going back to console (a 360, which looks awful compared to pc. I've always had xbox, and to me, everything works as I feel it should. What I'm trying to get at is go for the one that brings the best experience rather than the one with better graphics (one which your friends use etc). I only have 1 friend that pc games, the rest own 360s

Re: Which console should I go for?

If there's really only a coin-flip's difference between them just go for the one you get the better deal on.

Maybe you can save enough money on one over the other for an extra game or more controllers or whatever. Not sure if the online services and games cost differently for each, mind.

For the record, my current console of choice is a PC, followed by a Gamecube followed by a 3DS. But every little helps, right? >.<

Re: Which console should I go for?

Well PS4 seems to be holding its price well. And I don't see any price drops incoming for the console. If you're getting both anyway might as well pick up a PS4, then Xbox One later. If its power you're concerned with its not worth looking at consoles. Just look at the exclusives and games you WANT to play and go with that.

Fyi, I've seen Xbox reach the sub £300 mark at some retailers and I can see dropping further in the near future. Maybe even a cheaper Kinect-less SKU.

You should definitely go for the PS4. The graphics are spectacular. Also, I've played the Xbox One, and compared to the PS4, I just had a more memorable experience with Playstation 4.

I do have a pc which is more than capable of running games on the highest settings. The reason I had the 360 and now maybe the ps4 is due to certain games having very poor game ports, for example assassins creed games.

I'm looking at per-ordering the ps4 watchdogs bundle from Game atm (unless there is an xbox one bundle for less than £384), as I don't think the port will be any good if Ubisoft previous work is anything to go by.

Re: Which console should I go for?

Well, personally, I'm not paying MS for Kinect, and as I (unless it's changed and I haven't noticed) can't get XBO without it, that rules the XBO out for me. Besides, I haven't yet forgiven them for W8.

PS4? Maybe, but I'm not yet seeing adequate need.

But that's me. What you should do, I don't know, as you have different needs, priorities and criteria.

Re: Which console should I go for?

Personally I'd say xbox360 as you have that and there's games for it, which is something both consoles currently lack.

If you're looking at one game, then wait for it to come out and see what it's like don't preorder based on an unknown, I'm a bit wary of watchdogs atm, it could turn into another aliens colonial marines situation.
IMO the whole culture of pre-order is rather bad as a whole on the industry.

I'm trying to decide between a pc and a console, as I already have a pc more than capable of running games on the highest details. Sadly though Ubisoft and others make such bad ports that it spoils the games on the pc, and in the end in order to enjoy them they have to be played on a console (Assassins Creed a good example).

I'm not pre-ordering either console due to Watchdogs as I plan on buying other console games in the further, it just so happens that Watchdogs is out at the time I planned to buy one anyway.

    ------

I think i'll go with the ps4 unless I find a good enough reason not too (its not too late to cancel any order), and tbh the xbox one has nothing major over the ps4. The ps4 has more power than the xbox one which is one deciding factor, and I don't see the xbox one surpassing it in that area (unless they gut it and build it again properly). As I have said I own a very good pc which has made the ps4 the better option, as I want the best gfx possible and i'm not fussed on the kinect thing.

Re: Which console should I go for?

In this order. PS3, PS2, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbone. Based on the games that are out for the consoles. I would buy a console with this priority lol.
