    HD3300 Random Black Screens

    Hi,

This is an odd issue, I have one of my three screens connected by DVI to the onboard HD3300 on my motherboard. Whatever screen i try this connection causes the screen to randomly flash black. For some reason this rarely happens unless I have spotify maximised, then it does it loads!

The other two screens are connected to a 4770 and have no issues. I recently did a format and the issue was unchanged, and im using the latest drivers running windows7 64bit.

Any ideas? All a google returned was this:

Hmmmm, seems to be getting worse, sections of the screen turned black and i had to disable and renable it to get it working again. RMA the motherboard?

I would try cooling the IGP as it could be overheating.

Depending on what OS your on, could just be the graphics driver, they now refresh alot (goes black and back on) for many reasons, mainly to do with the driver model in the OS.

    Re: HD3300 Random Black Screens

my first thought was cooling but it really only happens (apart from those black patches which happened once and could be unrelated) when spotify is full screened.

Ill try it now - yep, and it doesnt just black out i think the monitor turns its black light off cause it goes black then a blacker black. Maybe its some sort of conflict between the driver and spotify, but i cant believe its not been experienced by anyone else.

    Re: HD3300 Random Black Screens

I think theres an actual fault with the onboard GPU as its been messing up after boot (so no overheating) and has been getting generally worse as windows has randomly been switching aero off and then on again as well as blue screening where the blue screen is only on the screen connected to the onboard and the other screen is uneffected.

The only problem i can see is that if I RMA it its going to be difficult to prove theres an issue as it will boot up and is fine 80% of the time. Its from scan fortunately, ill PM one of the scan guys with a link to this thread

EDIT: Similar problem described here http://forums.amd.com/game/messagevi...hreadid=119167

Ive looked at the system logs and the blue screens have to code 0x0000003b

You could run WinDbg from the Debugging Tools for Windows and open up one of the crash dumps in the C:\Windows\minidump folder?

Open WinDbg, go to File, Open Crash Dump, then navigate to C:\Windows\minidump and open the most recent file. Let the tool do it's thing, then at the very bottom will normally be a file or reason listed which will likely suggest the cause of a blue screen.

Have you got a Biostar board? There was a Bios update to fix many HD3300 issues, also try playing with the bios settings, side-port, shared mem size etc
