iTunes new user question
im planning to buy an iPod Touch in the coming days and this will be the first time ill be using the iTunes. (ive been using Sonicstage for my Sony mp3 walkman eversince). if i say i have an mp3 file downloaded from a site other than iTunes store would iTunes automatically "recognise" the song? how do i search for the song/album cover/picture so it would appear on my iPod Touch? and can it also recognise "any" downloaded MP4 video?

Re: iTunes new user question
Itunes should recognise all the info from the MP3 if its tags are all filled in properly...in windows you can right click, properties of the mp3 and look at all the tag info and change as needed if its not. I think Itunes also has the option to automatically download album art for mp3s that don't have it already. Not sure about the MP4 video though.

Re: iTunes new user question
No.
'MP4' is a term that been used so loosely it's almost worthless. It covers a huge range of different variations. While iTunes itself will hook into some of your DirectShow filters and use them to play non-Quicktime movies, the ipod won't and needs files to be encoded in a specific manner. There are lots of programs that will re-encode video to fit the iPod's requirements. |
