Unfortunately true - which leads me to wonder how Microsoft are going to get that "cool" factor for their mobile products? Desktop it's different because if you buy a PC you've only really got a choice of Windows or a variant of Linux (yes I know MacOS will run on PCs, but you can't buy it on a PC except on a Mac), so it's really a captive market. Intel servers similarly (although I'll admit that there's Solaris too).
But mobile's a whole different kettle of fish - unless they're going to do something really clever with this idea that Windows 8 Desktop and Mobile are built on the same low level foundation ("Windows Everywhere"?). If there's no clever twist from MS then Windows 8 Mobile's "cool" factor has to be inherited from the manufacturers.
So maybe this new logo is not only for desktop, but also for tablets and phones - reinforcing the "One Windows" message.
