    Any Vodafone customers with 'unlimited' internet pack? Think again in June.

    Vodafone are removing their fair usage policy from their unlimited data packs. I have the 500mb with fair usage. Now you pay an additional £5 for every 500mb above that limit.

    Love them Vodafone folk. Brilliant network, but they're dirty buggers sometimes, they really are.

    This is why I am with T-Mobile, they will not charge you for any additional bandwidth over the cap "fair usage" but may reduce access instead which does mean no surprise bills.

    Yeah, T-mobile seem to get a lot of things right when it comes to their customers best interests, their fair usage for mobile and broadband, their response to the awful debill and what that means for their customers.... Shame they just dont have the network coverage where I am.

    not bothered tbh I try and can't even hit half that limit so won't make much difference and Id rather pay £5 more if I did go over on a good solid 3G network than a slower one with less reception.

    I like T-Mobiles deal as I don't use it much so am not playing 15 quid for months when i have no need to use it. In addition to paying 2 pounds for a day, however you can block buy a week for 7 pounds and 30 days for 15 pounds. You can also leave the device Idle for up to 6 months without them worrying and you can always send a 10p Text to keep it active.

    For the record, I've never come close to the 500Mb limit either. I've had an Xperia a Touch Pro 2 and now a Desire with a Voda SIM in it and I've not blown the 500Mb.

    Apparently you can cancel if you used over 500mb however legally i'd imagine if that was true then it should be any usage including future (?)

    Bitterwallet have a decent breakdown of it, worth a punt if anyone wants out

    Re: Any Vodafone customers with 'unlimited' internet pack? Think again in June.

    Was really hoping this would give me cause for early termination, but reading bitterwallet suggests that this can only be the case if you use over 500mb at the moment and thus would actually be affected.

    As far as I'm concerned, they have unilaterally changed the contract I signed, and thus I should be given the option to be released from it free of charge. I might have signed it in advance anticipating that I would need the data limit for the world cup for instance, the fact that I dont use 500mb at the moment is irrelevant to me.

    I might speak to my mum, she's a lawyer! Although I would rather have been released when T-mobile had the stonking HTC desire deals that have no vanished

    Re: Any Vodafone customers with 'unlimited' internet pack? Think again in June.

    This is the crucial thing that Vodafone are in breach of. It is the licence that Vodafone operates under (note the law says nothing about 10%):

    Defendant is in breach of Ofcom’s General Conditions of Entitlement under the General Authorisation, NOTIFICATION UNDER SECTION 48(1) OF THE COMMUNICATIONS ACT 2003, Notification setting general conditions under section 45 of the Communications Act 2003, Condition 9 and 9.3, by which the Defendant is bound:

    1. Ofcom’s General Conditions of Entitlement under the General Authorisation can be found at http://www.ofcom.org.uk/static/archi...final0703.pdf;
    2. “9.3 Where the Communications Provider intends to modify a condition in a contract with a Consumer which is likely to be of material detriment to the Consumer, the Communications Provider shall: (a) provide the Consumer with at least one month‘s notice of its intention detailing the proposed modification; and (b) inform the Consumer of the ability to terminate the contract without penalty if the proposed modification is not acceptable to the Consumer.” (p. 22);

    Read the above on money supermarket

    from what im hearing they're backpeddling as best they can right now on this - I am not sure how its going to pan out, but I suspect this might be as a result of the iPad and the contracts the networks are all drawing up for the overpriced plate.

    Eitherway, Vodafone still annoy me as they insist on your writing in to cancel a contract yet they'll let you take out a new one without many verbal confirmations..

    Its why I left them and I won;t be going back anytime soon...

    bit off topic but MD that isnt true anymore, atleast it wasnt when I canceled mine in april and my sisters last month.

    All you do is either send an email threw their system on the website(**** tbh, worked for my sisters though not mine), or make a forum account and post there. The guys on the forums are pretty quick and helpful, I posted and he deleted my threat but emailed me regarding it(i had sensitive data in the post), after a response from me he did call me to confirm I wanted to quit or if there was anything he could do to keep me which he did do a good job at unfortunately i had bought my HD2 a month before haha!. But yeh it was canceled within a few days and so was my sisters, very quick.

    Ironically when all this kicked off Vodafone said you could only cancel due to this data swap via letter - ill try and dig out where...

    Ah i see, although i think the reason behind that one is to make it as annoying as possible to reduce leavers.

    One thing that does my nut in though is that all the people who just signed up for a long expensive contract and now will take the piss by trying to quit for a thing that doesnt affect them, in that case the customers of vodafone foot the bill!. Although if it genuinely affects you then you should ideally upgrade to a higher usage .
