    Grey imports

    Pursuant to this thread: http://forums.hexus.net/scan-care-he...y-invalid.html

I'm now concerned about how many of Scan's products are "grey imports" like this with invalid manufacturer warranties. Is this limited to just Samsung hard drives or other products too? Have to say my (until now very strong) confidence in Scan has taken a serious knock because of this.

Any chance of some official comment/explanation on this?

    Re: Grey imports

This particular issue appears to be just limited to certain hard-drives at the present time.

Please note, any hard-drives which are affected by this will have their warranty honoured by SCAN as shown by the returns managers post Here

We did not intentionally buy these. We always try to source real stock for this area, but it appears that a batch from 1 of the suppliers was found to be grey import and as such we are honouring the warranty accordingly as per Wesleys post.

    I hope this information helps.

    Best Regards,

    Re: Grey imports

    Hi Lee,

I bought a Samsung F1 from you last year and a Samsung F3 this year and both are out of the warranty area, are you sure it was only 1 batch?

This is what I get for both drives on the Samsung website :-

The product has been brought in from outside of this service region and cannot be serviced. Please contact your reseller or distributor.

Just wanted to make sure the warranty is still valid on my drives.

    Thanks & Regards
    Jon

    Re: Grey imports

Many thanks for the response Lee, that does explain things a bit better and helps to restore my confidence in Scan as my preferred source for future purchases.

Given that the drive I bought does not have the direct manufacturer warranty which was both advertised and which I much prefer to have, I'd still like to return the drive for a refund please. Can this be arranged?
