I have my mobile on, but it doesn't get answered. Bit difficult through a crash helmet....
I don't even feel obliged to answer my home phone if it rings. If I'm in the mood and it's convenient, I'll answer. If not, I don't.Of the 1006 surveyed, 59 per cent said they felt obliged to answer their phone when it rings in the car
Years ago, I got out of the bath to answer the phone, but it stopped ringing just before I got there. Just as I sat back down in the bath, it rang again. Again, it stopped just as I got there. And again, just as I sat back down, it started ringing. This time, I leapt out, dashed downstairs and picked up the phone, dripping, stark naked and shivering (sorry about the mental image, folks) in order to find .....yup, blasted cold-caller - Everest, trying to flog me double glazing, despite me having told them previously, and more than once, in no uncertain terms, I was not naffing interested.
I have not, since then, let the phone rule my life. And I most certainly don't let a mobile rule it.
For me, my mobile phone is for MY convenience, not everybody else's, and if it's not convenient, I simply don't answer. And if I'm driving, it's probably turned off anyway.
With any phone call, my attitude when its not convenient is that if it's important, they'll ring back, and if it's not important enough to ring back, it's not important enough to answer when it isn't convenient.

Loving the thought process there Saracen, certainly true.
It always was illegal - due care and attention - more knee jerk legislation (shock/horror) wasn't any more effective at stopping it. Surprised? Not really..
I put it in my briefcase so it's not to hand anyways. If need to I have a bluetooth handsfree thingamyjig on the visor if i need to phone the mrs if i'm stuck in traffic etc.
To be honest I use it more as a gps/music player/surfing the web & for games than as a phone.
This is one of my pet hates, I've nearly been in a crash because of a white van man on his mobile.
Women seem to be the worse. Both my sister and brother did it, so for Christmas I bought them Bluetooth headsets.

I answer my phone in my car, but i have a wired in hand free kit.
Far as I'm concerned I certainly wouldn't want to call anyone while in my car, and anyone calling me? Well, that's what I have voicemail for.
What gets on my nerves is the people that use their built-in speakerphone on their phones and they have windows open in their car and music playing, so when they ring and you try to speak to them it's impossible because you have a constant russling sound from the airflow and then loads of noise from the music. Add to this that you always seem to be able to hear yourself talking but slightly delayed which throws you off your speaking rhythm.
If anyone rings me and I know their driving in these conditions I just tell them to ring me when they're out of the car, and somewhere where I would be able to hear them.
