My sister just came to drop her daughter off and said that yesterday some woman came round a bend and as she came round she let the car drift to the right (whilst on the phone......) and came head on at my sister - luckily my sister slammed on and the only damage is paint work...but still - keep off your phones!!!!!!

I never drive while on the mobile, i find it too uncomfortable! I never sit on it.

I hate people who do drive and use their mobiles, I see it far too often - usually on a motorway - and I have come so close to a crash many times as a result. It's normally idiots pulling in to my lane without seeing me - presumably because they are on the phone, blind, stupid or all three.

This is the only thing that gets me really fired up on the road, it is so dangerous! Only this morning on the way to work I was waiting at traffic lights and the guy in front was on the phone, he put the car in reverse when the lights went green and nearly hit the front of me! Needless to say, I leant out of the window and shouted a few choice words at him!

I've had a full hands free kit in my car since something like 1997.
I very quickly decided that driving with 1 hand was not on ...

I can't see why people would do it when you can get Handsfree sets for like £10 now, and Bluetooths are down to £20 if your phone can take it. I've had a Bluetooth for about 3 years now and I will NEVER use the phone normally. I stop to send a text.

I find it annoying that the research evidence is clear - driving whilst talking on the mobile is dangerous - but there's still people who argue and spout a load of "I've never had an accident..." crap. The other thing that annoys me - and I speak as a smoker - is people smoking while driving. Smoking while your car's pulled over, fine. Stopping for a smoke break at the services, fine. In fact, probably quite a good idea, frequent rest stops being as beneficial as they are. One, your hands should be occupied with driving your car. Two, there's a fair few recorded accidents where people have crashed because ash blew in their eye.

Ever dropped a lit cigarette in your lap while driving? I nearly crashed when I used to smoke because I did this! Funny how a small hole in your upholstery becomes much more important than the safety of every other road user!

I may get shot down for this but using handsfree kits and staying in the slowest lane at the time (i.e. dropping down to 60mph if left lane is that speed), I find its manageable. Although some people should be banned from it if they're outright poor multitaskers who cant prioritise driving over a phone call.

We got cut up by a stupid BMW 4x4 driving woman on a mobile who thought there was a centre lane on a 2 laned roundabout

We see quite a lot of people on their mobiles while driving up and down the M61 and some of their driving skills are shocking once they engage their gobs.

I would love to see the punishment for this offence become the following

The car that you were driving whilst talking on the phone is crushed before your very eyes in one of them there big crushy things.

Then we could have one of those video shows where we get to see the peoples faces as their car is crushed, God I would pay a premium to watch 1/2 hr of TV like that.

The only time that a mobile should be used by a driver is in an emergency. I did it once on the motorway, I pulled into the inside lane, sat behind a lorry at 60mph and informed the police that there was a blue peugeot stationary and facing the wrong way in the middle lane of the M4!

Has just occured to me, even more lethal than talking on the phone, texting while driving, have seen that more than once! Normally the car that is wildly crossing the white line in front! Wasnt there a case recently of the police trying to prove that a girl who died in a fatal head on was sending a text while she was doing the national speed limit on a country road?
