hmm do you think he knew what he was talking about ?
whats the weight of that ? battery life ? cost of a small 3 bedroom house ?
What does it matter now if men believe or no?
What is to come will come. And soon you too will stand aside,
To murmur in pity that my words were true

Looks hefty, but it would be much nicer to carry around to LAN parties than my beast of a machine and a monitor. The cherry on top is that it's surely much faster than my desktop.

mobile gpu's suck, so I doubt it will actually be better for games (micro stutter and performance wise)

ITX form factor for lans is the cherry!

As an owner of a 17" dual GTX 680M laptop, I agree. Performance doesn't particularly suck (beats one desktop 680) but given a desktop 680 was £300-400 while the laptop GPUs were £1400 total... yeah that sucks. Plus, find something with a dodgy sli profile and there's nothing you can do, one GPU won't handle something like battlefield 4 and two performs worse than 1...

Mega-regret my system, in hindsight a full desktop would have been just fine because I massively overestimated how often the machine moves.

you do realize that the mobile 980's are nearly equal in performance to their desktop version right?

The performance gap has closed but a gtx980m is more like a 970, possibly less

    Per Anandtech It's about a desktop GTX770.

    Which isn't a bad showing but it isn't 'about' a 980.
Still wouldn't mind someone giving me a laptop with one in though

Maxwell mobile sucks much less than Kepler mobile. But it's still no desktop, especially when the true enthusiast Maxwell part hits to counter the 390x.

Re: MSI showcases GT80 Titan SLI laptop

It's interesting to see what can be done with the laptop formfactor, I like how the main upgradable components are so easily accessible though I have to agree with all the comments above; serious gaming needs no less than a full-on PC, mayhaps in a smaller box but still not mobile equivalents

Difference between GTX980M and and GTX980 Desktop is less than 10% in terms of performance overhead. Compare that to a few years ago on Nvidia 4xx Series where it was upwards of 40% differenc in performance. Untrue to say that Mobile GPU suck

These are close to $6500 here in Australia. Although not as portable, they also make a gaming dock for a laptop which can run desktop video cards, and it has reasonable specs for .
They do seem to be trying to give gamers some options, so they deserve a pat on the back for trying. Even if some disagree, the proof will be in the sales of these and the next products released.
