    Question Black Bar in GTA:SA

I've just got GTA:SA, and the game seems to run fine with everything maxed up. The only problem is I have about a 5cm black bar running down the whole of the left side of my screen when I play. I'm playing at 1024x768 and as I said, I have all settings on max (AA=3x, very high quality etc). Does anyone know how I could fix this?

    Thanks .

It might be because of the refresh rate of the "resolution" you are using. I would run coolbits and set the refresh rate of the resolutions to the same as what you use on desktop and this should get rid of the black bar down the side.

This works for me as if I leave the refreshs at stock - CS:Source looks funny and moved about 3 inch right, yet setting the refresh to 85 Hz works.

*Note* this is for CRT's only. If you have a TFT then I haven't got the foggiest

I'm already running at 85Hz, which is apparently the highest my monitor can support at this resolution. As far as I can tell, the rate is the same as what I use on my desktop, although I don't usually play about with these settings, so I might be looking at the wrong bit.

And yes, I am using a CRT .

EDIT - It seems I need to click my mouse somewhere for the setting to actually change the resolution. I suppose it would have helped it I read the instructions .

lol! why 85 hz? I'd suggest 75Hz it's much more appropriate for your vision. Unless you're under oddly phased flourescent lights there's not much point.

I can't speak for everyone but I find higher the refresh rate, the less eye burning I get after staring at the monitor for hours at a time.

I don't need to worry now as my new lovely AG Neovo M-19 tells me every hour to go for an eyebreak and its TFT loveliness.

i moved up to 100Hz on my old office monitor after I had health and safety uprate the flourescent light quality - it's great having an eye condition - means I got a 3 grand monitor!

i only use 75hz at home, but have filters on the overhead lights so they don't hurt my eyes.
