    Smile Work In Progress!

Got the kids new build up and running yesterday, so took a few quick pics with my phone...

Got to fit the new fans and wire them in, resist the temptation of an OcUK slot loading blueray drive and we should be good to go.

Went for the ASUS HD5770 in the end mate, seems to have a longer warranty than others i found...full specs are...

    Sugo SG01-Evo case
    MSI 785GTM-E45 mobo
    Phenom II x4 940BE
    NT06-E V3 heatsink
    4gb Geil Black Dragon PC6400
    ASUS HD5770 1gb
    OCZ Modxstream pro 600watt psu
1tb Western Digital Black 32mb cache (the only part on the PC that scores below 7.something in the windows rating system, BAH!!!)
    Razer Lycosa keyboard
    Razer Diamondback 3G mouse
    Windows 7 Ultimate

Like i say, i've got to add in the fans and get them wired in...i also want to get some new sata cables as the supplied standard red ones are too stiff.

Once everything is in we can have a final fiddle with the cable runs etc, loved the fact that all i had to use apart from the motherboard power wires on the psu was one six pin lead for the gfx card and a sata lead that will do both the hdd and optical drive as well...makes things much easier!.

The heatsink is passive mate, it sits that close to the psu on purpose so that the fan on the psu itself draws the air though it to cool everything. As for temps, haven't really run anything to stress it yet, and with the cold weather (our house has been freezing!) i fired up hwmonitor the other night and was getting idles temps in the mid 20's across all four cores . Doubt it'll stay that low after a few hours of the kids gaming with it!.

Bit of an update on the temps side of things. Ended up using 3 80mm Noctuas in the case, idle temps are still around mid to high-ish 20's, got the kids to play Bioshock 2 for a couple of hours and the max temp was reported as being high 50's. I know ambient temps are a bit lower at the moment but the kids room is one of the warmest in the house so fingers crossed it should stay pretty good.
