Issues with abit ab9 pro: Can't boot in dual channel

I cannot for the life of me get this board to boot in dual channel on my ab9 pro. I'm using a pair of crucial ballistix ddr2 800.

When I plug then into ram slots 1 and 2, my computer works perfectly. However, if I even put one stick of ram into slots 3 and 4, I get a C1 error, which means a problem with memory detection. I have tried manually loosened timings and increasing voltage to 2.2v.

I see there are some ram compatibility issues, but this make no sense that one set of slots would work, but the others wouldnt. The person I purchased it from had a pair of corsair stick working. I am running the most recent bios, but it seems this board still has ram compatibility issues. crucial is one of the largest brands, I see no reason why my ram shouldnt work in dual channel.

When I try to run dual channel ( slots1+3 or slots 2+4 ) I get the c1 error. Slots 1+2 (single channel) works fine. If I use either 3 or 4, I get the c1 error.

I have the Quad GT. The manual does not specify which slots are on the same channel

    So, for dual channel, is it 1 & 3 or 1 &2?

According to the manual, slots 1 & 3 or 2 & 4 will enable dual channel.
