Strange then that the 700 watt FSP Epsilon (not the most efficient psu) I have is running a ATI 1950XT with a TEC cooler on it. The TEC draws more amps than standard and yet my Quad Rail 18 amps per rail has no issues whatsoever. Its also running 4 Hard drives and a E6300 @ stock. Voltages do not move when under load.
The main PC is running an Enermax 720 Infiniti with an 8800GTX Dual Core E6600 raptor and 250Gb drive 5 fans.
    The rail issue
    Have a read here

Unless there are particular issues with the 1950XT and dual triple quad rail psu's then I cannot imagine there will be a problem with your Enermax Infiniti 650 watt.

And finally a review of the 720 Watt infiniti

I assume this is the 1 you purchased.

Some PSU's can load balance across the rails, like I suspect yours is doing.
Infact, assuming this is your PSU, its almost a certain bet - There is no way nVidia would certify it for SLI 8800GTS use, when a single card can use more than 18amps.

While I agree that its not hugely likely that he will encounter problems with that PSU - why take the risk if replacing one that's already not good enough?
There *are* known issues with high power graphics cards and dual/triple rail PSUs, so many of them just fall over

Dont doubt m8. Just relaying my own experience which was kinda relevant. So hopefully you didnt take my post the wrong way.

A single rail unit has its pro and cons compared with dual triple quad etc.
I think at the end of the day provided it is a recognized quality manufacturer, with relevant reviews to back up your own decision, and of course advice from forums such as Hexus, i dont think there is much chance of going wrong.

To the OP: hope all goes well with the new PSU, let us know how it goes.

Drat and double drat! I was in the middle of penning a thread in YoYoTech's forum when the laptop battery went to sleep. So now I'm at home with a new PSU, prodding it with a stick and trying to figure out if I should open it or not.

I think I will though. I've a friend who's in the market for a new system, I'll sell it on to him and get him to buy AMD GPUs rather than the greedy ATIs, if all doen't go well with my rig.

    Wish me luck....

Well the update is in. Three things worth noting here.

1.Abit's "turn the system on without using the case" is the best thing since MoboBoard Trays; I'll never build without it.
2.PSU seems to be running fine. Everything is whisper quiet but it's a bit odd the PSU keep all the fans running even after the PC has technically turned off
3.The underside of the mobo is glowing blue??

    Hi M8,

    Answers in order
    1 Yep
2: Its very decent PSU, the "PSU running after switching off" is normal. Its called Cool Guard. It will continue running the PSU fan and system fans to continue cooling the system components. Temp thermal contolled.
3: Normal. You can switch switch this off if you want or have the blue lights constantly on or a different pattern.

So I am double Dratted now am I
